Zo Tahiana Hariminoson

A self-taught Malagasy filmmaker whose debut feature JOE (2022) became both a critical and popular success in Madagascar. He also took the title role in the film. He made JOE as a deliberate attempt to bring Malagasy occult culture — the traditions of sorcery, ancestral intervention, and the spiritual economy of everyday life — back to the screen. Produced by Watch Entertainment Studio and distributed through Canal Olympia, the film demonstrated that ambitious Malagasy genre filmmaking was possible despite limited production infrastructure.
